49ers Crush Cardinals, Lose Gore For Season

Brian Westbrook rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown in place of the injured Frank Gore and the San Francisco 49ers sent punchless Arizona to its sixth straight loss, 27-6 Monday night, as reported by ESPN.com Gore left in the first half with what was later diagnosed as a fractured right hip.

The Patriots and Jets remained hot on Thanksgiving, while the Falcons, Bears, Chiefs and Ravens all made a statement on Sunday in Week 12. New England 45, Detroit 24 Trench Counter: Patriots +16.3, Lions -16.3 The New England Patriots (9-2) dominated the second half to pull away from the Detroit Lions (2-9) on Thanksgiving. Tom Brady went 21-for-27 with 341 yards and four touchdowns, all of which came in the second half. BenJarvus Green-Ellis led the Patriots with 12 rushes for 59 yards and two scores. Deion Branch (113 yards and two touchdowns) and Wes Welker (90 yards and two touchdowns) were Brady?s top targets. Shaun Hill had 285 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions for Detroit. Maurice Morris was the team?s offensive star, rushing nine times for 55 yards and two touchdowns. Calvin Johnson led in receiving with four catches for 81 yards and a score. The Lions led 17-10 at halftime, but were outscored 35-7 in the second half. New Orleans 30, Dallas 27 Trench Counter: Saints +0.7, Cowboys -0.7 The New Orleans Saints (8-3) jumped out to an early 17-0 lead and held on to top the Dallas Cowboys (3-8) at Cowboys Stadium. Drew Brees went 23-for-39 with 352 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Julius Jones had 45 rushing yards on 10 attempts, while Chris Ivory excelled with 38 yards and two scores on seven touches. Marques Colston had six receptions for 105 yards and Lance Moore had five grabs for 35 yards and a score. Jon Kitna had 313 yards and an interception as the Cowboys charged back to nearly steal a win in the final seconds. Miles Austin scored on a 60-yard rush in the third quarter and Felix Jones added 44 yards on 13 carries. Jason Witten was Kitna?s top target, catching 10 passes for 99 yards, while Roy E. Williams (83 yards) and Jones (69 yards) also displayed chemistry with Kitna. N.Y. Jets 26, Cincinnati 10 Trench Counter: Jets +12.8, Bengals -12.8 The New York Jets (9-2) scored 23 points in the second half to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals (2-9) on Thursday night. Mark Sanchez had 166 yards, a touchdown and an interception as New York excelled on the ground. Shonn Greene (18 carries for 70 yards), Brad Smith (55 yards and a touchdown) and LaDainian Tomlinson compiled 49 yards on 13 attempts. Dustin Keller had a team-high 49 yards on four receptions, while Santonio Holmes caught five balls for 44 yards and a touchdown. Carson Palmer struggled, going 17-for-38 with 135 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Cedric Benson rushed 18 times but gained just 41 yards against New York?s tough defense. Ben Roethlisberger went 20-for-33 with 246 yards as Rashard Mendenhall starred with 36 rushes for 151 yards and a touchdown in the victory. Pittsburgh was led in receiving by Hines Ward, who had seven catches for 107 yards. The Steelers were nearly upset in overtime, but Buffalo receiver Steve Johnson dropped a touchdown catch as he entered the end zone. Ryan Fitzpatrick had 265 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Fred Jackson rushed 12 times for 59 yards and Buffalo struggled to gain yardage on the ground. Jackson also led the Bills in receiving with five catches for 104 yards and a touchdown. Cleveland 24, Carolina 23 Trench Counter: Browns +0.6, Panthers -0.6 The Cleveland Browns (4-7) outlasted the Carolina Panthers (1-10) in a hard-fought game on Sunday. Jake Delhomme had 245 yards and two interceptions as Peyton Hillis starred for Cleveland by rushing 26 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns. Hillis also grabbed six balls for 63 yards and Mohamed Massaquoi had four receptions for 52 yards. Jimmy Clausen had 195 yards and an interception as Carolina leaned on the ground game. Jonathan Stewart had 12 carries for 98 yards and Mike Goodson rushed 14 times for 55 yards and a touchdown. Carolina?s defense also mustered three field goals and their defense added seven points on a 37-yard interception return by Captain Munnerlyn. Houston 20, Tennessee 0 Trench Counter: Texans +21.7, Titans -21.7 The Houston Texans (5-6) shutout the Tennessee Titans (5-6) in a game that was marred by a fight between Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan (both were ejected). Matt Schaub went 25-for-35 with 178 yards and two touchdowns, while Arian Foster gained 143 yards on 30 rushing attempts. Derrick Ward also helped with 47 rushing yards. Andre Johnson (56 yards) and Joel Dreessen (15 yards) caught touchdown passes from Schaub. Rookie Rusty Smith went 17-for-31 with 138 yards and three interceptions as Tennessee?s offense was shutdown. Javon Ringer was the team?s leading rusher, gaining 27 yards on four carries. Eli Manning had 226 yards and two touchdowns as New York leaned on the ground game. Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw combined to rush for 136 yards on 25 carries, while Kevin Boss (74 yards and a touchdown) and Mario Manningham (61 yards and a score) were Manning?s top targets. David Garrard had 162 yards and an interception and also rushed six times for 41 yards and a touchdown. Miami 33, Oakland 17 Trench Counter: Dolphins +18.6, Raiders -18.6 The Miami Dolphins (6-5) overcame an opening kickoff return for a touchdown by Jacoby Ford to beat the Oakland Raiders (5-6). Chad Henne went 17-for-30 with 307 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown combined to rush for 180 yards and a touchdown on 44 carries. Davone Bess was Miami?s leading receiver (six catches for 111 yards) as Brandon Marshall sat with a hamstring injury. Bruce Gradkowski starred with the Raiders and had 252 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Oakland totaled just 18 rushing yards on 12 carries. Ford, who ran 101 yards on the opening kickoff score, grabbed four passes for 108 yards and a touchdown. Kansas City 42, Seattle 24 Trench Counter: Chiefs +18.1, Seahawks -18.1 The Kansas City Chiefs (7-4) scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to put away the Seattle Seahawks (5-6). Matt Cassel went 22-for-32 with 233 yards and four touchdowns and Kansas City was nearly unstoppable on the ground. Jamaal Charles had 179 yards and a score and Thomas Jones rushed 20 times for 68 yards. Dwayne Bowe benefited from Cassel?s big day, catching 13 passes for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Matt Hasselbeck went 20-for-37 with 282 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Marshawn Lynch struggled, gaining just 20 yards on seven carries. Ben Obomanu connected with Hasselbeck five times for 159 yards and a touchdown. Baltimore 17, Tampa Bay 10 Trench Counter: Ravens +8.3, Buccaneers -8.3 The Baltimore Ravens (8-3) scored all 17 of their points in the second quarter to top the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-4) in Maryland. Joe Flacco had 289 yards, two touchdowns and an interception and Ray Rice rushed 20 times for 85 yards. Flacco?s top receivers were Derrick Mason (87 yards and a touchdown) and Todd Heap (a 65-yard TD reception). Josh Freeman went 17-for-37 with 162 yards and a touchdown, which came on a five-yard pass to tight end Kellen Winslow near the end of the fourth quarter. LeGarrette Blount, Freeman and Cadillac Williams combined to rush for 101 yards on 23 touches. Winslow was Tampa Bay?s top receiver with four catches for 44 yards and Williams added five receptions for another 41 yards. Chicago 31, Philadelphia 26 Trench Counter: Bears +3, Eagles -3 Jay Cutler starred as the Chicago Bears (8-3) contained Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles (7-4) at Solider Field. Cutler went 14-for-21 with 247 yards and four touchdowns as Chicago was consistently in good field position thanks to returns. Matt Forte gashed the Eagles on ground for 117 yards on just 14 carries, while also grabbing two catches for 22 yards. Devin Hester led Chicago in receiving with three catches for 86 yards and Earl Bennett had four catches for 56 yards and two touchdowns. Michael Vick had 333 yards, two touchdowns and an interception as Philadelphia?s defense struggle to stop Chicago when needed. LeSean McCoy rushed for 53 yards and Vick added another 44 yards on scampers. Jason Avant (eight receptions for 83 yards), McCoy (eight catches for 67 yards) and Brent Celek (50 yards and a touchdown) was Vick?s top targets. St. Louis 36, Denver 33 Trench Counter: Rams +2.4, Broncos -2.4 The St. Louis Rams (5-6) held off a furious rally by the Denver Broncos (3-8) on Sunday afternoon. Sam Bradford went 22-for-37 with 308 yards and three touchdowns. Steven Jackson rushed 29 times for 72 yards and receiver Danny Amendola added 48 yards on three rushing attempts. Danario Alexander was the team?s leading receiver with four receptions for 95 yards, while tight end Billy Bajema had three catches for 32 yards and two scores. Kyle Orton finished with 347 yards and three touchdowns as Denver outscored St. Louis 20-3 in the fourth quarter. All three of Orton?s scoring strikes came in the final period. This week's action was highlighted by New England's narrow win over Indianapolis, yet another loss by the Vikings and an overtime win by the Redskins. Chicago 16, Miami 0 Trench Counter: Bears +5.7, Dolphins -5.7 The Chicago Bears (7-3) shutout the Miami Dolphins (5-5) on Thursday night. Jay Cutler went 16-for-25 with 156 yards and an interception, but Chicago?s defense was stout enough. Matt Forte led the Bears with 101 total yards and the only touchdown of the game. Johnny Knox led the team in receiving with five receptions for 55 yards. The Bears had six sacks of Tyler Thigpen. Thigpen went 17-for-29 with 187 yards and an interception. Thigpen also led Miami in rushing with 27 yards on six scrambles. Miami managed just 187 total net yards against Chicago?s defense. Brian Hartline led the Dolphins in receiving with five catches for 70 yards as Miami failed to reach the end zone. Baltimore 37, Carolina 13 Trench Counter: Ravens +11.3, Panthers -11.3 The Baltimore Ravens (7-3) maintained pace with the AFC?s best with a win over the Carolina Panthers (1-9) in North Carolina. Joe Flacco went 24-for-33 with 301 yards and a touchdown, which came on a 56-yard pass to T.J. Houshmandzadeh in the first quarter. Ray Rice had 131 total yards and a touchdown in the win, while Baltimore got two touchdowns on interception returns in the fourth quarter. Brian St. Pierre went 13-for-28 with 173 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in his first start with Carolina. Mike Goodson was Carolina?s leading rusher with 120 yards on 22 carries. Ryan Fitzpatrick had 316 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions as Buffalo stormed back from an early deficit. The Bills also got 116 yards and two scores from Fred Jackson. Fitzpatrick?s leading target with Steve Johnson, who caught eight passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns. Carson Palmer went 19-for-34 with 230 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, while Cedric Benson excelled on the ground with 25 carries fro 124 yards and a score in the defeat. Jordan Shipley was Cincinnati?s leading receiver with five catches for 71 yards, while Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco both found the end zone. Dallas 35, Detroit 19 Trench Counter: Cowboys +8.4, Lions -8.4 The Dallas Cowboys (3-7) are now 2-0 under coach Jason Garrett after defeating the Detroit Lions (2-8) in Texas. Jon Kitna went 18-for-24 with 147 yards and three touchdowns, his second straight impressive performance. Felix Jones and Marion Barber combined to rush for 87 yards on 24 carries, while Miles Austin had just two catches for seven yards but both led him into the end zone. Jamaal Charles led K.C. on the ground with 12 rushes for 88 yards, while Thomas Jones had 71 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Tim Hightower and Beanie Wells combined to rush for 101 yards on 20 touches. The west end zone got lots of action as Illinois beat Northwestern 48-27 on Saturday in the odd-looking game, according to an Associated Press report.

Michael Vick finished Monday's 59-28 win over the Redskins with over 300 yards passing, 50 yards rushing, four touchdowns in the air and two on the ground, something no player has accomplished in NFL history. Vick found both DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin on spectacular long touchdown passes. ?I feel like I?m playing the best football because of the coaches that I have and the guys that I?m playing with and the offensive line is playing great," said Vick after the game. "I have a great group of guys around me. So it complements me as well, this is me doing a great job and the other guys doing their job too. It just goes hand in hand.?

There were two overtime games in the NFL on Sunday with the Jets and 49ers coming out on top. In addition, the Cowboys won with their new coach and Brett Favre and the Vikings struggled yet again. Atlanta 26, Baltimore 21 Trench Counter: Falcons +5.3, Ravens -5.3 Matt Ryan connected with Roddy White on a 33-yard touchdown pass to give the Atlanta Falcons (7-2) a victory over the Baltimore Ravens (6-3) on Thursday night. Ryan went 32-for-50 with 316 yards and three touchdowns, including two to White (12 receptions for 138 yards). Michael Turner had just 39 yards on 17 carries as Atlanta relied on their passing game. Joe Flacco went 22-for-34 with 215 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Baltimore got some better production on the ground, getting 59 yards from Ray Rice and 34 yards from Donte Stallworth on a pair of rushes. Todd Heap (57 yards and a touchdown), Anquan Boldin (50 yards and a score) and Derrick Mason (48 yards and a touchdown) led the Ravens in receiving. Buffalo 14, Detroit 12 Trench Counter: Bills +1.9, Lions -1.9 The Buffalo Bills (1-8) got their first win of the season over the Detroit Lions (2-7) at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Ryan Fitzpatrick had 146 yards and a touchdown, while Fred Jackson excelled with 133 rushing yards and a score through both the air and on the ground. Lee Evans led Buffalo in receiving with two catches for 52 yards. Shaun Hill went 29-for-50 with 323 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Seattle 36, Arizona 18 Trench Counter: Seahawks +12.3, Cardinals -12.3 After taking the lead in the second quarter the Seattle Seahawks (5-4) didn?t trail against the Arizona Cardinals (3-6). Matt Hasselbeck went 22-for-34 with 333 yards and a touchdown, while Justin Forsett and Marshawn Lynch combined for 93 yards and two scores on 22 carries. Mike Williams led Seattle with 11 receptions fro 145 yards and Deon Butler added four catches for 66 yards and a score. Derek Anderson went 23-for-45 with 322 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Arizona rushed for just 41 yards, with Tim Hightower tallying 39 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Steve Breaston (98 yards), Larry Fitzgerald (91 yards) and Early Doucet (71 yards and a touchdown) were the Cardinals? top receivers. San Francisco 23, St. Louis 20 (OT) Trench Counter: 49ers +12.7, Rams -12.7 Joe Nedney kicked a 29-yard field goal in overtime after a pass interference call to give the San Francisco 49ers (3-6) a big win over the St. Louis Rams (4-5). Troy Smith went 17-for-28 with 356 yards and a touchdown. Frank Gore dashed 22 times for 87 yards and a touchdown, while Smith scrambled three times for 12 yards.
